Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Project Accountant to join our team in our Massachusetts office. This role will be responsible for managing, analyzing, and reporting all project-related costs to ensure accuracy and compliance with budgets. The ideal candidate will work closely with project managers, estimators, and the finance team to monitor job profitability and support financial decision‑making.
Duties
Track, analyze, and report job costs across multiple construction projects
Review and verify project budgets, change orders, and cost codes
Assist with budget development and forecast projections
Monitor actual project costs vs. budget and identify variances
Collaborate with project managers to review cost data and provide actionable insights
Track labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
Review and reconcile project costs against budgets and forecasts
Generate timely and accurate job cost and variance reports
Prepare monthly cost reports and support month‑end closings
Ensure proper coding and documentation of job‑related transactions
Perform audits and assist with internal/external reviews
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in construction accounting or job cost accounting
Strong knowledge of construction cost accounting principles
Proficient with accounting software
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
Attention to detail and strong problem‑solving abilities
Knowledge of construction contracts and billing methods (AIA)
