Job Summary The Senior Medical Director II is the scientific services team lead for assigned accounts. As such, this individual is responsible for the overall team development of promotional medical education materials, which may include review or creation of slide decks for conferences or educational programs, advisory board materials, panel discussion guides, experiential programs, and other relevant content. Additionally, is expected to demonstrate strategic therapeutic and landscape expertise for the relevant therapeutic area. The Sr. Medical Director will, with the support of the other members of Woven's team including the Account Director(s), assist with the development and implementation of clients’ strategic initiatives, new products, and technologies to support the success of WHC's business. The Senior Medical Director position is a client-facing role and is expected to serve as senior scientific oversight for the broader team. Further, will manage junior staff, and actively participate as a member of the scientific team. The Director, Senior Medical is expected to have extensive knowledge of medical communications and pharmaceutical processes.
Job Responsibilities and Skills
Develop, write, and update content
Oversee direct reports within the department to:
Assign and direct resources for projects and deliverables
Ensure accuracy and quality of deliverables
Partner with internal team and provide onsite support at key meetings or events
Understand the competitive landscape for the therapeutic space(s)
Drive the development of overall strategic direction and planning for assigned clients
Provide leadership, training, oversight, direction, and mentorship
Evaluate and review performance
Set and track goals
Coordinate with scientific management team
Attend internal and external meetings, and update content as appropriate
Interact with and provide scientific support to clients
Home-based (remote) or NYC Office (candidate's choice) location
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 6-7 years medical writing experience, preferably in a health care marketing or communications agency internship, preceptorship or equivalent
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including presentation skills
Ability to understand complex scientific and medical literature
Ability to assist in the development of overall strategy for clients
Direct client and HCP interaction experience
Ability to develop clear, concise, and consistent content
Experience developing medical communications materials, including (but not limited to) slide decks, live and virtual advisory boards (agendas, meeting decks, summaries), speaker bureau materials and training, brochure and flashcards, and other relevant materials
Ability to relate to a wide variety of audiences and be able to simplify abstract ideas for others
Works effectively within a team, including both internal and external partners
Possess ability to work directly with clients, leading discussions, and identifying solutions to their business needs
Microsoft Office proficiency (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Master of Science, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent
