The Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Unit (NBMU) Adult Service is an 18-bed locked inpatient unit for patients age 18 years and older with a variety of psychiatric conditions. Treatment takes place within a multidisciplinary team format with shared responsibility and includes the following: pharmacotherapy; psychotherapeutic and behavioral interventions; electroconvulsive therapy; family therapy; neuropsychological assessments; group therapy; recreational therapy; and health education.

Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing

Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of California

BART or BLS certification at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six (6) months of hire date

Minimum of one (1) year of inpatient psychiatric RN experience

Extensive knowledge of DSM-5 psychiatric diagnosis and plan of care/treatment; antipsychotic, anti‑anxiety, mood stabilizers, antidepressants, and other applicable psychiatric medications

Ability to critically handle unexpected challenges in a psychiatric setting and create a plausible solution in a team‑centered environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

BSN

ANCC certified as a Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse

Bilingual English/Spanish

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs

Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical

Per diem shift requirement is an average of one shift per week. Must be available one weekend shift every four weeks and one major holiday. This is subject to change based on department needs

Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $180,716 - $180,716 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $86.55 - $86.55
