The Regulatory Affairs Manager is the company’s subject matter expert on all regulatory and compliance matters. This role ensures that all products, ingredients, packaging, and communications meet domestic and international regulatory standards. The manager leads regulatory strategy across product development, commercialization, and certification programs, while maintaining robust systems and documentation to support compliance and speed-to-market initiatives. This position collaborates cross‑functionally with R&D, QA, Sales, Operations, and external partners.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide regulatory guidance during new product development, including labeling, claims, and ingredient compliance.
Lead regulatory timelines and prioritize tasks independently with minimal oversight.
Develop, maintain, and audit ingredient and finished product specifications using systems such as TraceGains.
Review and approve product artwork and labeling for compliance with FDA and other applicable regulations.
Respond promptly to technical inquiries from industrial and retail customers.
Manage regulatory workflows and systems to support rapid commercialization.
Maintain and update online customer product databases and portals.
Oversee and maintain compliance with key certification programs, including:
Organic
Kosher
Non‑GMO Project Verified
Rainforest Alliance
Gluten‑Free Certification Organization (GFCO)
Fair Trade
RSPO (Sustainable Palm Oil)
Lead audit preparation for regulatory and certification bodies, including documentation, team coordination, and corrective action planning.
Represent the company during third‑party audits and certification renewals.
Monitor and interpret regulatory trends and assess business impact.
Promote food safety and employee safety across the organization.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in regulatory affairs within the food manufacturing industry.
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Biological Sciences, or related field.
Deep understanding of FDA, USDA, CFIA, EU, and global food regulations.
Experience with regulatory systems such as TraceGains, Genesis, or equivalent.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities; able to work independently.
Proven ability to develop and implement regulatory systems and documentation processes.
Analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving skills.
High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
Customer‑focused with strong interpersonal skills.
Passion for food and innovation; thrives in a fast‑paced environment.
