Digital Factory Leadership:
Lead baseline build planning, engineering release sequencing, and development of Digital Factory requirements, layout, and design.
Establish and lead the EL9 Build Team; generate and manage the IMP/IMS for the aircraft.
Develop a scalable factory layout and perform trade studies (pulsing vs. fixed lines, feeder systems).
Build production models integrating cost, touch labor, learning curves, and takt-time variability.
Evaluate Digital Factory tools (MRP, scanning, analytics, planning, flow control, metrics, kitting, inventory, financial integration).
Create a digital visualization database for full-vehicle engineering and customer configurations.
Develop prototype and production build processes and tools.
Oversee build/liaison teams at major aerostructure suppliers to ensure timely build and delivery.
Production Engineering Integration:
Review engineering tools/processes, perform VSM analysis, and recommend Lean Engineering improvements.
Analyze prototype EBOM and work with IPTs to establish procurement codes.
Generate preliminary MBOM, define production breaks, and align with factory build plans.
Define configuration end items for FAA PCA and V&V.
Conduct producibility assessments; identify manufacturing improvements (accessibility, sequencing, paint/sealant/routing).
Establish MRB plan and liaison engineering training.
Validate MBOM vs. EBOM to ensure engineering completeness and integration with the master schedule.
Load and prepare the MRP system for P1–P4 builds and inventory control.
Supplier Cross-Functional Integration:
Partner with Supply Chain to evaluate major suppliers for component build/assembly participation.
Use master schedule and MBOM to generate lead times and need dates for supplier and internal manufacturing.
Support communication of delivery dates with appropriate margins.
Help define critical supplier deliverables and FAA CofC requirements.
Validate Tier 1 supplier quality plans/processes.
Support SCM and Engineering in selecting remaining Tier 1–3 suppliers.
Skills:
Experience with 3D Model-Based Definition (MBD)
Background working with Tier 1 suppliers
Strong collaboration with suppliers and internal fabrication teams
Demonstrated manufacturing planning experience
Experience with tool design and large tool fabrication
Proficiency with MRP systems
Ability to build and manage IMS with tight dependencies
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent experience)
3+ years generating manufacturing planning or equivalent data
10+ years managing manufacturing and/or engineering IPTs
