Job Summary The incumbent is responsible for the strategy, oversight, and performance of revenue operations, fare equipment availability, and ensuring accurate, secure, and efficient collection of fare revenue across all service modes. The role directs supervisory staff engaged in service and repair of fare‑collection equipment, cash processing (count room), revenue dispatching center, revenue collections, and oversees key fare‑payment system contracts and vendors. The Director also manages policy execution and provides strategic leadership for the development and support of future payment systems for the agency.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Oversee revenue technician staff, count room, and fare equipment mechanics teams to maintain high system uptime and operational efficiency.

Lead the design, development, and implementation of payment systems or technologies that provide reliable, cost‑effective fare payment solutions at reduced maintenance expense; perform fare systems failure analysis and implement corrective action plans.

Manage vendor relationships and fare system contracts, develop service level agreements, monitor compliance, and manage vendor invoices and approvals.

Develop performance metrics, monitor ongoing system operational performance and SLA compliance, conduct data analysis on revenue operations key metrics, and implement improvements based on trends.

Oversee personnel involved in programming, configuration, uptime performance, and security of systems including online, retail outlets, ticket vending machines, fareboxes, mobile applications, tap cards, and related payment platforms; create an inviting and safe work environment.

Authorize and verify requisitions for materials and supplies, monitor consumption rates, and take corrective action on variances.

Maintain records related to employee productivity, procedures, accidents, employee conduct, training, and equipment defects; provide support to the Assistant Vice President in departmental issue resolution.

Direct capital projects, managing staff and contractors involved in design, implementation, and issue resolution related to fare collection and cash processing operations.

Lead policy development, implementation, evaluation, and revision for inter‑ and intra‑departmental procedures; perform audits to ensure compliance.

Perform other related job duties as assigned.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.

Five (5) years of progressively responsible transportation industry experience, including two (2) years’ experience managing staff in maintenance and operations; extensive project management and transit experience preferred.

Pass a criminal background investigation and credit history check.

High level of analytical ability to solve complex interpersonal, technical, financial, legal, and administrative problems.

Pass a physical examination that includes a drug screen for operation of DART non‑revenue vehicles.

Proficient PC skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) or related software.

Strong customer‑focus skills, including gathering customer feedback and using it for improvements.

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities across diverse settings.

Conflict resolution skills, listening, and negotiation to achieve equitable outcomes.

Team‑building, morale‑boosting, and open‑dialogue facilitation skills.

Performance management and development planning abilities.

Ability to scope projects, set objectives, break down tasks, schedule, and adjust for obstacles.

Working Conditions Employees work in environments with minimal dust, noise, or temperature exposure. Occasionally, employees may be exposed to dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART operating facilities. All safety precautions and protective equipment are provided.
