$96,336.00/yr – $121,413.00/yr (Base Pay) Job Description
The New York State Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) provides operational support 24/7/365 for more than 4,900 applications used by 53 New York State agencies. As an Information Technology Architect 1 (Enterprise), you will design and oversee technical solutions that meet business needs while adhering to all policies and standards. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to analyze requirements, architect solutions, and ensure successful delivery. Duties
Design, develop, and maintain technical solutions that address business requirements and align with architecture principles and standards. Develop solution architectures, technical specifications, and system designs. Design and manage solutions throughout the development lifecycle. Evaluate, identify, and develop technical solutions based on business requirements, considering scalability, performance, security, and usability. Lead evaluation projects and provide recommendations for technology adoption. Identify and document technical risks and propose mitigation strategies. Plan, track, and schedule enterprise project deliverables. Collaborate with development teams to ensure implementation follows design specifications. Minimum Qualifications
Six years of broad information technology experience, including comprehensive understanding of software coding and programming languages. Four years of specialized experience in enterprise architecture, software development, or a related technical role. Preferred Qualifications
Strong technical background across multiple domains such as cloud computing, microservices architecture, databases, and integration technologies. Broad understanding of coding languages (SQL, Python, Java, JavaScript, Scala, C/C++, Ruby, Rust, Go, COBOL, etc.). Experience with database design, data modeling, and UML. Extensive knowledge of the software development process and related technologies (Agile, DevOps, CI/CD). Excellent understanding of design patterns and architectural styles. Expertise with content management systems (WordPress, Drupal, Squarespace, Joomla, Shopify, Adobe Experience Manager, etc.). Good understanding of integration patterns and middleware (ESB). Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and detail orientation. Knowledge of security, compliance, and regulatory requirements relevant to solution design. Experience leading technical discussions and decision‑making in cross‑functional teams. Additional Comments
