The Stony Brook School seeks a visionary, mission-aligned Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence faculty member to join our STEM Department beginning in August 2026. This role is expected to center on upper-level and advanced offerings such as Advanced Machine Learning with Artificial Intelligence and AP Computer Science A, with opportunities to teach additional courses as departmental needs and candidate strengths allow. We are especially eager to consider candidates who will ideate and help launch new, forward‑looking course offerings that prepare students for advanced study and real‑world application of Generative AI.
In addition, the successful candidate may have opportunities to teach in our Math Department. SBS offers a strong advanced math program with more than 80 students studying beyond AP Calculus in courses such as Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Advanced Topics.

The ideal candidate will possess:
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
3‑5 years of teaching experience in secondary or postsecondary settings preferred, or comparable success in industry‑based mentoring
Expertise in programming languages and working knowledge of AI and machine learning frameworks
Vision and leadership in developing AI curriculum and integrating computational thinking across disciplines
Passion for guiding students in ethical, creative, and innovative uses of technology
Demonstrated growth mindset and eagerness to develop as a teacher, mentor, and colleague
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Eagerness to serve in a faith‑based learning environment that emphasizes faithful Christian scholarship and character formation
Expertise in planning and delivering mission‑aligned curriculum and lessons with clear objectives, strong materials, and thoughtful assessments that move students toward growth and mastery
Ability to teach both technical skills and creative process, from introductory to advanced levels
Beyond teaching, SBS faculty are active members of our boarding school community, sharing in evening and weekend supervision, coaching athletics or leading co‑curriculars, chaperoning events, proctoring study halls, and supporting community meals. Full‑time faculty typically teach 4–5 classes, lead or assist with 1–2 co‑curricular commitments, and participate in our residential life program.
