What We Offer The Head of AI Product Strategy & Development for Novant Health’s Institute for Innovation & AI (II&AI) is a pioneering role at Novant Health and in the healthcare industry overall. Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions have been decades in the making – with recent advancements in AI usefulness, access, affordability, and safety now making it possible for AI to drive substantial impact in healthcare. Toward these goals, the Novant Health Institute for Innovation & AI continuously strives toward the mission and vision to drive innovative yet responsible AI-native solutions that create meaningful and measurable impact for Novant Health’s patients, clinicians, and health system operations. The II&AI Head of Product Strategy & Development (HPSD) is a key leader to make this happen.

What You’ll Do Essential Functions

Overall, the II&AI Head of Product Strategy & Development (HPSD) is responsible for ensuring the “So What?” for all innovation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) product investments that we make. This includes having a crisp and clear view of the “Who? What? and Why?” for all of our product investments (i.e., What problems are we solving? For whom specifically? Why does that matter, what are the expected outcomes, how will we measure impact, what is the impact, and what are we doing about the results?). These responsibilities are both directly as well as by leading all II&AI Product Teams (Product Managers, Product Designers, Tech Leads, Developers, etc.) in the effective practice of the product operating model to design and deliver effective AI-native solutions, including:

Lead Product Discovery – Own and drive the customer Working Backwards process, product design tenets, short- and long-term objectives, and product discovery artifacts (e.g., vision, strategy, problem/opportunity statement, addressable market, target outcomes, success metrics, target capabilities, and high-level feature requirements), including customer and market feedback, competitive analysis, and business metrics to inform direction.

Lead Product Vision & Strategy – Including all aspects of the product’s “North Star”, investment model or pro forma, innovation and experimentation approaches, and commercialization framework when applicable.

Lead Product Planning & Development – Including which customer goals and target outcomes are included in a given product release (i.e., for the Minimum Lovable Product, and then Releases thereafter), expected capacity projections and SLOs/SLAs, pricing or chargeback models, and cross-functional dependencies. Own product development prioritization.

Lead Collaboration with Development & Technical Teams – Including incorporation of engineering innovations and opportunities, helping the technical team make tradeoffs based on product objectives and target outcomes, providing QA/testing verification and final feature sign-off, and confirming launch readiness of each product release.

Lead Product Launch – Own each product launch plan including what value is being delivered in a given product release, for who, when, and why. Own customer- and stakeholder-messaging (e.g., Launch Announcements and Press Releases), ensure customer and operational readiness, and coordinate the successful release of the product and all supporting teams, processes, and services.

Lead Product Operations – Including monitoring and response to product performance metrics, customer feedback, continuous improvement needs, and business growth.

Lead Product Performance & Business Reporting – Track and analyze trends for essential product performance metrics on an ongoing basis. Own publishing and team reviews of product performance reports on a weekly basis. Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews with stakeholders. Have a data-driven opinion of the “So What?” regarding II&AI’s product performance metrics and impact, including next steps based on the results so far.
