About the Role As a Department Manager, you’ll be the leader supporting and encouraging your whole team. By bringing everyone together, you’ll create an inclusive culture that promotes collaboration and an entrepreneurial spirit, helping you, your team, and H&M succeed. You will ensure an excellent operational and visual experience for your store, customers, and colleagues, stay aware of your store’s strengths, opportunities, and competitors, analyze sales, and create plans to optimize results and profits.

Responsibilities Customer Sales & Profit

Responsible for the total OMNI customer experience in your store, ensuring visual and commercial curation according to global guidelines.

Represent yourself and the H&M brand positively during customer interactions.

Take responsibility for your department’s strengths, identify commercial opportunities, and act on them.

Establish and analyze sales and budget goals, creating plans to optimize results.

Ensure customer service is provided in all areas and that your team promotes and sells products to customers.

Promote the Customer Loyalty App (Hello Member) and in‑store sustainability initiatives.

Manage your department cost‑efficiently.

Ensure correct routines in the fitting room and checkout, including transaction, returns, and exchanges.

Handle all admin routines for people and operations correctly.

Fashion & Trend Awareness

Keep up to date with the fashion scene, trends, styles, brands, products, competitors, and relevant influencers.

Ensure your team provides product and fashion knowledge during customer interactions.

Team & Development

Recruit, onboard, manage, and develop your team in‑store.

Complete performance evaluations and succession planning to support business and team needs.

Retain and share your knowledge and skills with your team.

Collaborate, plan, and work with the in‑store Visual Merchandiser team.

Give and receive feedback with your colleagues to learn, develop, and support each other.

Plan and schedule your team.

Communicate regularly to motivate and inspire colleagues—daily, weekly meetings, etc.

Ensure all procedures, routines, and legal requirements in all store areas are followed.

Participate in onboarding and training processes relevant to your role.

Retail Operations / Visual & Commercial Execution

Maintain a clean, tidy sales floor and back of house, including stockroom areas.

Ensure high‑fashion quality, visual and commercial product presentation with good garment care.

Secure good stock levels and provide input on allocation to the area team.

Ensure the full garment cycle—delivery to presentation—fitting room routines meet internal standards and use provided tools and technology.

Maintain best practice for in‑store OMNI services and tech tools (Instore Care App, Click & Collect, Smart Store, etc.).

Maintain a balanced and consistent price perception through correct price signage following global and local strategies.

Update BOH areas for all colleagues (key information, health & safety, tidiness).

Open and close the store daily.
