About the Role As a Department Manager, you’ll be the leader supporting and encouraging your whole team. By bringing everyone together, you’ll create an inclusive culture that promotes collaboration and an entrepreneurial spirit, helping you, your team, and H&M succeed. You will ensure an excellent operational and visual experience for your store, customers, and colleagues, while staying aware of your store’s strengths, opportunities, and competitors. You will analyze and follow up on sales, and create plans to optimize results and profits.

A Day in the Life Working at H&M means no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will include the following responsibilities.

Customer Sales & Profit

You are responsible for the total OMNI customer experience in your store, ensuring visual and commercial curation according to global guidelines.

Represent yourself and the H&M brand positively during customer interactions.

Be aware of and take responsibility for your department's strengths, identify commercial opportunities, and act on them.

Establish and analyze sales and budget goals, creating plans to optimize results.

Ensure customer service is provided in all areas of the store and that your team can actively promote and sell products to customers.

Follow up that your team actively promotes our Customer Loyalty App (Hello Member) and in‑store sustainability initiatives.

Manage your department in a cost‑efficient way.

Ensure correct routines in fitting room and checkout, including transaction, returns, and exchanges.

Ensure all administrative routines for both people and operations are handled correctly.

Fashion & Trend Awareness

Keep up‑to‑date with fashion scene, trends, tendencies, styles, brands, products, competitors, and relevant influencers.

Ensure your team provides product and fashion knowledge as well as other relevant information during customer interactions.

Team & Development

Responsible for recruitment, onboarding, performance management, upskilling, and developing your team in‑store.

Complete performance evaluations and succession planning to support business and team needs.

Retain and share your knowledge and skills with your team.

Collaborate, plan, and work with the in‑store Visual Merchandiser team.

Give and receive feedback with your colleagues to learn, develop, and support each other.

Responsible for the team's planning and scheduling.

Regular communication to store colleagues to inform, motivate, and inspire – daily, weekly meetings, etc.

Ensure all procedures, routines, and legal requirements in all areas of the store are followed.

Participate in relevant onboarding and training processes and courses for your role and future development.

Retail Operations / Visual & Commercial Execution

Secure a clean and tidy sales floor and back‑of‑house including stockrooms.

Ensure high fashion quality, visual and commercial product presentation, with good garment care.

Secure good stock levels and provide input on allocation to the Area team.

Ensure the full garment cycle – from delivery to presentation – and fitting room routines follow internal guidelines and utilize all provided tools and technology.

Uphold best practice for in‑store OMNI services and technology (Instore Care App, Click & Collect, Smart Store, etc.).

Secure a strong balance and maintain price signs in‑store and throughout the sales floor according to global and local strategies and requirements.

Update and upkeep of BOH areas for all colleagues (key information, health & safety, tidiness, etc.).

Responsible for opening and closing of the store daily.

Compensation Expected base salary range:

$21.39 - $25.24 hourly
