Adjunct Job Description This position will be responsible for teaching non-credit Language courses for the Lifelong Learning program within the Continuing Education and Workforce Development (CEWD) Department. Lifelong Learning Adj Faculty shall teach proposed or existing courses approved by the program manager and director. Instructors generally teach 1 to 2 courses a term based upon their area of expertise. Courses vary in length and do not follow traditional course length semesters. Area of expertise should be clearly outlined in their application, cover letter, or resume.
Course Topics Taught
Beginner and Continuing Spanish
Beginner and Continuing French
Beginner and Continuing Italian
American Sign Language
Language for Travelers and Other languages not listed but of possible interest to students
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Plan detailed, relevant, progressive lesson plans to engage students.
Provide course descriptions and learning objectives to the Program Manager.
Provide differentiated instruction to meet the various needs and levels of students.
Promote cooperation and mutual respect among students.
Provide master copies or lists for instructional materials in a complete and timely manner to allow preparation and distribution.
Provide timely notice if unable to attend class or scheduled meetings.
Submit class evaluations and other documents as directed by program staff.
Participate as required in student complaint process.
Support the stated mission, policies, and procedures for Frederick Community College.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Appropriate certifications, degrees, and/or experience required to teach the course offered.
Previous experience teaching.
Basic computer skills necessary for utilizing technology in the classroom.
Desired Qualifications
Previous experience teaching personal enrichment classes.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to use varying styles and approaches that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multicultural workplace.
