Position Overview The Automation Project Lead will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of DeltaV automation upgrades and batch system enhancements in a GMP manufacturing environment. This role serves as the primary technical and project leader for DeltaV and related MES/automation systems, ensuring alignment with site operations, quality, and validation requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead automation projects from initiation through commissioning, qualification, and handover.
Develop project plans, schedules, resource requirements, and status reports.
Coordinate with cross‑functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Validation, and IT.
Manage vendor activities and ensure deliverables meet project timelines and expectations.
Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for Emerson DeltaV DCS and DeltaV Batch.
Lead design, configuration, testing, and implementation of DeltaV software changes.
Troubleshoot and optimize batch recipes, control strategies, and automation sequences.
MES & Integration
Collaborate with MES teams to ensure seamless integration between DeltaV, MES, and other automation platforms.
Support data flow mapping, interface testing, and system performance optimization.
GMP, CSV & Compliance
Ensure all system changes follow GxP regulations, site SOPs, and industry best practices.
Develop and review system documentation, including URS, FRS, DS, test scripts, and traceability matrices.
Support commissioning, qualification, and validation (CSV) activities for automation systems.
Required Skills & Experience
Strong hands‑on experience with Emerson DeltaV, including Batch configuration and troubleshooting.
Proven experience leading automation or control system projects in a pharmaceutical or biotech GMP environment.
Knowledge of MES systems, data flow, and integration with DeltaV.
Deep understanding of GMP, GAMP 5, and CSV methodologies.
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder‑management skills.
