Director of Engineering
We’re seeking a
dynamic, hands‑on Director of Engineering
with a proven track record in
luxury, Forbes Travel Guide Four or Five‑Star
properties to lead engineering operations at a prestigious waterfront resort. This role demands someone hungry, resilient, and committed to long‑term success — not a stop on the way to retirement.
What You’ll Lead
Full oversight of engineering operations for a resort with ~70 guest rooms plus employee housing.
Strategic ownership of capital spending, budgeting, project planning, and execution.
Management of a team including Assistant Director of Engineering, Supervisor, and ~12 Engineers.
Supervisory responsibility for an on‑property horticultural team.
Protecting the property’s integrity in a coastal environment, anticipating wear‑and‑tear, corrosion, and weather impacts.
Partnering with vendors, contractors, and local authorities to uphold safety and compliance.
Reporting to property leadership with actionable insights on costs, condition, and capital planning.
Who We’re Looking For
Luxury, flagship experience — deep familiarity with Forbes Four/Five Star standards.
Strong background in capital project management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial ownership.
Experience running multi‑discipline teams including engineering and landscape/horticulture.
Thick‑skinned leader: calm under pressure, decisive in challenges, and driven by results.
A grounded collaborator who also brings strategic vision and operational grit.
Must thrive in a coastal resort environment where corrosion, storms, and salt exposure are everyday challenges.
Core Qualifications
7+ years engineering leadership in luxury hospitality.
Demonstrated capital and operational budgeting success.
Project lifecycle experience from planning through delivery.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Exceptional problem‑solving and decision‑making ability.
