Position Summary The Inventory Manager ensures the smooth and efficient movement of materials and components across the supply chain to meet production and business goals. This role is responsible for inventory planning and control, while also supporting purchasing activities, supplier management, and production operations to maintain optimal stock levels and drive cost efficiency. This position reports to our Costa Mesa office Monday‑Friday.
Position Responsibilities Inventory Planning & Control
Maintain optimal stock levels: ensure adequate inventory of lighting components (LED chips, drivers, housings, lenses) to prevent shortages or excess.
Establish inventory policies: define reorder points, safety stock levels, and inventory control procedures to support production schedules.
Utilize ERP/MRP systems: plan and monitor material requirements using systems like SAP to align with manufacturing demands.
Cycle counting management: implement and oversee weekly, monthly, and quarterly cycle‑counting processes to maintain inventory accuracy.
Data review & reporting: validate completed cycle counts, update SAP entries, and conduct material costing reviews for accurate financial reporting.
Purchasing & Supplier Support
Collaborate with purchasing team to source essential lighting components.
Secure competitive pricing, favorable contract terms, and reliable lead times to support production schedules.
Assess supplier performance, qualify new vendors, and build strong relationships for consistent quality and delivery.
Oversee creation, tracking, and follow‑up of purchase orders to ensure timely material availability.
Reduce material, transportation, and storage expenses through strategic sourcing and process improvements.
Contribute to cost‑saving strategies and assist in meeting financial targets.
Production & Planning Support
Coordinate with operations to align material supply with manufacturing plans.
Confirm that all required lighting components are available for every production line to meet schedules.
Resolve shortages, delays, or discrepancies quickly to prevent production downtime.
Ensure receiving, storage, and material handling processes maintain smooth material flow.
Ensure precise stock documentation, conduct cycle counts, and verify inventory integrity for planning accuracy.
Data & Process Management
Maintain accurate ERP/MRP data: BOMs, lead times, min/max levels.
Analyze material performance KPIs (inventory turns, supplier OTIF, etc.).
Improve processes through lean or continuous improvement methods.
Ad Hoc & Cross‑Functional Support
Perform additional tasks as needed to support purchasing, logistics, and production workflows.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, or operations.
Five‑plus year’s experience in procurement, production planning, or logistics.
CPIM, CLTD, CSCP, CSCM, or equivalent certification.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of supply chain, procurement, and manufacturing.
ERP/MRP expertise (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, etc.).
Negotiation and supplier management skills.
Inventory optimization and data analysis.
Leadership and communication skills.
