Lead Software Engineer, CoCounsel Core Skills Thomson Reuters is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for CoCounsel Core Skills who will lead multiple significant projects, programs and business initiatives, demonstrating creativity and ingenuity. This role requires someone who delivers end-to-end technical solutions and solves complex, ambiguous problems.

About The Role

Write backend code for user-facing features that drive the CoCounsel application and platform capabilities to enable partners from around the company to reach our customers.

Develop delightful application code, easy-to-use framework and component libraries, and push the team to be efficient, productive, and nimble in a fast-moving field.

Bring deep expertise in backend engineering while thoughtfully considering frontend and platform implications—especially as evolving LLM capabilities require coordinated changes across the stack, from efficient server-side delivery to responsive client rendering.

Accept IC leadership; expect technical expertise, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, whether among peer engineers, stakeholders, or other leaders.

Work collaboratively with colleagues up and down the technical stack.

About You Required Qualifications

At least six years professional software development experience. Formal computer science education is a plus but is not required.

Experience in technical leadership such as mentoring other engineers, breaking features down into stories, discussing competing implementations, etc.

Deep expertise in back-end technologies and architectures (e.g., Python, FastAPI, API design).

Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively, and a self-starter mentality with quick learning and adaptability.

Proven ability to execute both tactical and strategic solutions.

Strongly Preferred Qualifications

Experience with AWS/GCP, Kubernetes.

Track record of utilizing cutting-edge AI tooling and techniques.

Strong opinions about the future of LLM‑driven application UX.

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws requiring upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range for this role is $116,900 USD–$217,100 USD. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors, including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs. This role may also be eligible for an annual bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
