Databricks Data Engineer – Manager – Consulting Join EY to lead our Data Engineering team in designing and implementing complex, cloud‑based analytics solutions centered on Databricks.

Location Anywhere in the country – remote or hybrid arrangements are supported.

Technology – Data & Decision Science – Data Engineering – Manager We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Manager of Data Engineering to lead our team in delivering high‑impact analytics solutions on major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

The Opportunity In this role you will design and build analytics solutions that deliver significant business value. You will collaborate with data and analytics stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Understand and analyze business requirements, translating them into technical specifications.

Design, build, and operate scalable data architecture and modeling solutions.

Stay current with emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge.

Lead workstream delivery and ensure quality across all processes.

Engage with clients daily, participate in working sessions, and identify opportunities for additional services.

Implement resource plans, budgets, and manage engagement economics.

Skills and Attributes for Success

Architect and develop scalable data engineering solutions using Databricks on cloud platforms.

Oversee complex cloud analytics architectures, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

Manage and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering innovation and collaboration.

Collaborate with clients to understand analytics needs and deliver tailored solutions.

Ensure data quality, integrity, and security through robust governance practices.

Drive end‑to‑end data pipeline development: ingestion, transformation, storage.

Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Manage client relationships, setting expectations and ensuring high satisfaction.

Stay abreast of trends in data engineering, cloud computing, and analytics.

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

Proven experience delivering projects and building client relationships.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).

4–6 years of data engineering experience, focusing on cloud data solutions and analytics.

Proven expertise in Databricks and Spark for big data processing.

Strong background in data architecture and design for complex cloud analytics.

Leadership experience managing and mentoring engineering teams.

Strong programming skills in Python, Scala, or SQL.

Excellent problem‑solving, independent and team‑oriented work abilities.

Strong client‑management communication and interpersonal skills.

Required Expertise for Managerial Role

Strategic Leadership – align data engineering initiatives with organizational goals.

Project Management – deliver multiple projects on time and within scope.

Stakeholder Engagement – present solutions effectively to executives and clients.

Change Management – guide clients through data transformation and technology adoption.

Risk Management – identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.

Technical Leadership – make architectural decisions that impact outcomes.

Documentation and Reporting – produce clear project progress reports.

Enterprise Data Lake Implementation – designed a cloud‑based lake for a Fortune 500 retailer, integrating ERPs, POS, and e‑commerce data.

Real‑Time Analytics Platform – led a real‑time analytics solution for a financial services client using Databricks streaming.

Data Warehouse Modernization – modernized a legacy warehouse to cloud‑native architecture for a healthcare provider.
