Overview
Join EY as a Senior Manager in the Government & Public Sector Financial Accounting Advisory Services (GPS FAAS) practice. This role focuses on delivering high‑impact advisory services to State, Local and Education (SLED) clients across federal, state and local government sectors.
Opportunity As a Senior Manager, you will play a key role in the growth of the GPS FAAS team, developing creative, strategic goals and delivering truly exceptional client experiences. You will collaborate across service lines, build strong client relationships and drive business development initiatives.
Your Key Responsibilities
Actively pursue business development activities, including developing proposal responses, training staff and executing engagement deliverables.
Think on your feet and challenge existing practices to develop answers to complex issues.
Collaborate with colleagues across multiple service lines, building relationships and identifying opportunities for clients.
Travel regularly to meet key clients.

Direct field work and manage assurance staff performance.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of complex governmental accounting (e.g., GASB) and budgetary reporting concepts.

To Qualify for the Role You Must Have
U.S. CPA license in your work state.
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business discipline, supported by 10 years of post‑college work experience in conducting financial audit and providing financial reporting advisory type support to SLED clients.
In‑depth understanding of US Governmental GAAP, GASB standards, Financial and Single Audit and OMB guidance.
Comprehensive knowledge and proficiency in preparing and auditing Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), Annual Financial Statements and Single Audit Report for SLED entities.
Proficiency in modified‑accrual basis of reporting, grants management, and budgetary reporting.
Hands‑on experience with business development in the SLED space, including deal governance and proposal submission process.
Experience with large regional or national Not for Profit (NFP) client is a plus.
Excellent project management, communication and negotiation skills and a collaborative approach to management.
A proven record of excellence when managing, mentoring and improving a team of high‑performing colleagues.
Dedication to teamwork and leadership, integrity within a professional environment.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance or higher.
Travel up to approximately 30% for federal practice and up to 80% for state, local and education practice.
Ideally You’ll Also Have
CGFM and/or CDFM.
