Your Key Responsibilities

The nature of this role means no two projects will be the same. You will actively pursue business development activities, identify opportunities, develop proposal responses, train staff, and execute engagement deliverables simultaneously.

You will think on your feet, challenge existing practices, and develop answers to complex issues.

You will collaborate with colleagues across multiple service lines, build relationships and identify opportunities for clients to benefit from our knowledge in other areas.

Regular travel will be required to meet with key clients.

Skills And Attributes For Success

Develop and maintain strong, productive working relationships with advisory client personnel, assess clients' satisfaction and proactively maintain contact with the client throughout the year.

Direct field work, inform supervisors of the advisory engagement status and manage assurance staff performance.

Demonstrate a thorough understanding of complex governmental accounting (e.g., GASB), budgetary reporting and auditing concepts and apply them to client situations.

Experience executing advisory/consulting type work (reporting or transformations).

Develop people through effectively delegating audit tasks and providing guidance to assurance staff.

Provide performance feedback, training and performance reviews for assurance staff.

Contribute ideas/opinions to the assurance teams and listen/respond to other assurance team members’ views.

Foster an efficient, innovative and team‑oriented work environment.

Use technology to continually learn, share knowledge with assurance team members and enhance service delivery.

Develop an understanding of EY's service lines and actively seek/encourage assurance team members to contribute ideas and identify opportunities to apply the firm's services.

To qualify for the role you must have

U.S. CPA license in your work state.

Hold a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business discipline, supported by 10 years of post‑college work experience in financial audit and advisory support to SLED clients in a fast‑paced environment.

In‑depth understanding of US Governmental GAAP, GASB standards, Financial and Single Audit, and OMB guidance.

Comprehensive knowledge and proficiency in preparing and auditing ACFR, Annual Financial Statements and Single Audit Report for SLED entities.

Proficiency in modified‑accrual reporting, grants management, and budgetary reporting.

Hands‑on experience with business development in the SLED space, proficiency in deal governance and proposal submission process (lead multiple proposals in past year).

Experience with large regional or national Not‑for‑Profit clients is a plus.

Excellent project management skills.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills and a collaborative approach to management.

A proven record of excellence when managing, mentoring and improving a team of high‑performing colleagues.

Dedication to teamwork and leadership.

Integrity within a professional environment.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance or higher.

Travel flexibility up to approximately 30% within the federal practice and up to approximately 80% within SLED practice.

Ideally you’ll also have

CGFM and/or CDFM certification.

What We Offer You

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package. Base salary ranges from $146,700 to $335,100 across the US, with higher ranges in metro areas. Benefits include medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, paid time off, and more.

Hybrid work model: most people in client‑serving roles work together in person 40‑60% of the time.
