Position Overview The Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing the tax compliance and planning functions of the organization. This role involves managing tax-related activities, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, and providing strategic tax advice to optimize the company's tax position. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax accounting and public accounting, with experience in various tax returns and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and oversee the preparation and filing of federal and state tax returns including 1040, 1120S, 1120, and partnership returns.

Provide tax planning and consulting services to clients across various industries, including real estate and non-profit organizations.

Ensure compliance with GAAP and local tax regulations while keeping abreast of current tax legislation and changes.

Review and supervise the work of junior accountants and staff in the tax department.

Conduct tax research and analysis to support planning strategies and resolve tax issues.

Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and optimize tax efficiency for clients.

Assist in audits and provide necessary documentation to external auditors as required.

Communicate effectively with clients to explain tax concepts and answer inquiries regarding their tax situations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

CPA certification is required.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax accounting and compliance, preferably in a public accounting environment.

Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations and compliance requirements.

Experience with tax software, particularly Quickbooks and related tools.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain complex tax issues clearly.

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
