Description
The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist, under the direction of the Department Director and Manager, is expected to work independently performing a variety of echocardiography procedures for use in the diagnosis of heart disorders.
The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist will independently perform transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) on adult, children and neonatal patients, and prepare a preliminary echo report for review by the interpreting Physician or LIP. Stress echocardiograms, both pharmacologic and exercise, will be performed with the assistance of a qualified Respiratory Care Practitioner, Cardiologist or other Licensed Independent Practitioner specialized in Cardiology. The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist is also responsible for acquiring Transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) images under the direct supervision of a cardiac cardiologist, qualified anesthesiologist or cardiac surgeon. The Technologist assumes responsibility for the completeness and accuracy of all exams performed and the effective communication of this information to the cardiologist, anesthesiologist or cardiac surgeon for final interpretation.
The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist individualizes patient care using age‑related concepts based on the unit population, including knowledge of growth and development, safety needs, collection and interpretation of data, treatments and care typically required, and participating in the evaluation of care. The Technologist utilizes age‑related concepts when communicating with patients and families, using medical equipment, participating in diagnostic or other procedures, and when teaching patients/families.

Required Qualifications
Graduate of a formal approved Cardiac Sonographer program.
Upon hire: National Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer from American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, or
Upon hire: National Certification from Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
3 years experience in the field.

The successful candidate’s placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
