The Morgan National Hospital, one of the nation’s largest academic medical centers, houses 59 state‑of‑the‑art operating rooms across all surgical service lines. The Nurse Director leads this Operating Room team and ensures excellence in patient care and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate nursing services for the nursing location.

Manage all operational services for their location of responsibility.

Assess and supervise staff based on mutually agreed‑upon goals in job descriptions.

Implement strategies to enhance retention and reduce turnover.

Promote a safe and positive working environment.

Ensure RN supervisors/clinical care managers are aware of updated policies and procedures.

Prepare departmental budget and operate the department within budgetary guidelines.

Assign patients for day‑to‑day management to nursing coordinators and/or Nursing Supervisors/Managers.

Qualifications Education

Master’s Degree in Nursing required.

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required and Master’s Degree in a related field of study required.

Licenses and Credentials

Registered Nurse (RN) with state license – required.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – preferred.

Basic Life Support (BLS) – preferred.

Experience

Nursing management: 3–5 years required.

Operating Room experience: Minimum 5 years in a complex healthcare setting.

Leadership experience: 3–5 years required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Compensation and Benefits

Full Pay Range: $144,206.40 (min) – $275,308.80 (max) USD Annual.
