Enterprise Solution Architect – OT/IoT & Integrated Systems
Location:
Seattle, WA 98125 (Hybrid)
Duration:
12 Months
Must Have Skills
10+ years of relevant technical experience designing and delivering enterprise class integrations, cloud services, or OT/IoT solutions.
Strong systems design and software engineering background (distributed systems, APIs, microservices, containers, orchestration).
Hands‑on experience integrating CMMS, BAS/OT, ERP/Procurement systems, or enterprise SaaS platforms.
Nice to Have Skills
Strong collaborator and mentor who elevates engineering practices across teams.
Data‑driven and security‑first mindset.
Excellent at articulating tradeoffs.
Summary The Solution Architect / Technical Lead provides end‑to‑end technical leadership for real estate product portfolios and integration initiatives. This role designs scalable, secure architectures and drives implementation of systems that support the portfolio of products and capabilities including space & occupancy, CMMS, BAS/OT, parts/inventory, project management, BIM/drawings, data warehousing, and analytics. The person partners with Product Management, UX, Engineering, Data, Security, and vendors to ensure high‑quality delivery, operational reliability, and long‑term maintainability of solutions.
Core Responsibilities Architecture & Technical Strategy
Define solution architectures that meet functional needs, non‑functional requirements (scalability, availability, security, performance), and enterprise standards.
Produce architecture artifacts: integration diagrams, API contracts, data models, sequence flows, deployment topologies, and solution decision records.
Integration Design & Delivery
Lead design and delivery of cross‑system integrations including data mapping, reconciliation strategies, and error handling.
Recommend synchronous vs. asynchronous patterns, middleware or event streaming, and API gateway/SOA patterns as appropriate.
Act as technical owner in all phases: Discover, Prepare, Explore, Realize, Deploy and Run, define CI/CD pipelines, guide code reviews, and set engineering practices (automated testing, observability).
Mentor developers, Functional Analysts, DevOps, and junior architects on design patterns, test automation, and secure coding.
Data & Modeling
Collaborate with data engineers to define canonical data models for assets, locations, leases, work orders, parts, and drawings.
Define ETL/ELT approaches, data quality rules, master data management strategy, and data lineage for the data warehouse.
OT / BAS / Edge & IoT
Design secure, vendor‑neutral approaches for connecting BAS/OT systems and edge devices, including protocol translation, telemetry ingestion, and edge processing patterns.
Identify strategies for device lifecycle management, firmware/patching workflows, and OT/IT network segmentation compliant with security policy.
Security, Compliance & Governance
Ensure solutions comply with security, identity, data residency, and regulatory requirements. Specify encryption, IAM, SSO, and audit/logging controls.
Work with Security/Compliance and enterprise architects to conduct threat modeling and security reviews.
Evaluate vendor architecture, lead technical onboarding, and validate vendor deliverables against architecture and integration contracts.
Define SLAs, runbooks, and operational acceptance criteria for vendor‑hosted SaaS tools.
Operational Excellence
Design for observability (metrics, logging, distributed traces), incident response playbooks, recovery objectives (RTO/RPO), and automated health checks.
Drive runbook and automation creation so GREF operations teams can manage and support systems with predictable SLAs.
Deliverables
Solution architecture documents and integration blueprints
API contracts, data models, and mapping specifications
Security and compliance artifacts, threat models, and remediation plans
Operational runbooks, alerting thresholds, and SLOs
Migration and cutover plans for legacy → modern platforms
Required Qualifications
10+ years of relevant technical experience designing and delivering enterprise‑class integrations, cloud services, or OT/IoT solutions.
Strong systems design and software engineering background (distributed systems, APIs, microservices, containers, orchestration).
Hands‑on experience integrating CMMS, BAS/OT, ERP/Procurement systems, or enterprise SaaS platforms.
Experience defining canonical data models, working with ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehouses, and BI integrations.
Familiarity with security best practices: SSO, encryption, network segmentation, threat modeling.
Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work in matrixed, cross‑functional teams and to present technical trade‑offs to non‑technical stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
Relevant certifications: TOGAF, AWS/Azure architect, CISSP, or other security/architecture credentials.
Technical leadership with a bias for delivery and pragmatic engineering decisions.
Strong collaborator and mentor who elevates engineering practices across teams.
Customer focus—understands operational user needs and translates them into robust technical solutions.
Strategic thinker who balances near‑term delivery with long‑term architectural health.
Data‑driven and security‑first mindset; excellent at articulating trade‑offs.
