The Bower Plaza in Fenway is home to three concepts from ES Hospitality – Eastern Standard, Equal Measure, and Standard Italian. These concepts serve brunch, lunch, dinner, and late‑night drinks to neighborhood visitors, BU students and faculty, residents, and restaurant industry professionals.
Overview Eastern Standard is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead front‑of‑house operations into the new year and beyond. This dynamic, multi‑concept role involves overseeing service, management, and staff across Eastern Standard, Equal Measure, and a robust private dining program. The General Manager implements, oversees, and maintains all steps of service, hospitality procedures, and company policies for both guests and staff, ensuring operations align with the restaurant budget and controlling costs.
Responsibilities
Oversee and manage the day‑to‑day operations of Eastern Standard, Equal Measure and the group’s private dining spaces throughout lunch, brunch, and dinner services
Lead by example on the floor, maintaining a hands‑on presence and assisting wherever necessary
Guide and empower the FOH staff to be advocates for their guests, providing them with the tools to create memorable experiences
Develop and implement ongoing training and professional development programs for FOH staff
Take part in the hiring life‑cycle from the interview to implementing training programs for FOH new hires
Focus on cultivating meaningful relationships with guests through regular guest engagement to create returning diners and regulars
Manage and resolve all guest inquiries and complaints, ensuring every guest leaves with an exceptional dining experience
Work closely and collaboratively with the entire management team across the front and back of house
Continue to develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures for all FOH managers
Coordinate with vendors and maintenance staff to ensure the restaurant, equipment and building systems are running smoothly
Work to promote the ES hospitality brand in the neighborhood, identifying opportunities to encourage new business
Oversee and manage labor costs, inventory, purchasing, and waste minimization to maximize profitability
Qualifications
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in hospitality, including at least 3 years in management ideally in a multi‑concept space
Professional, hardworking, upbeat, and energetic with the ability to lead by example
Effective and thoughtful communicator
Excited by the opportunity to mentor management and FOH staff
Team player, ready and eager to pitch in as needed to ensure the success of the restaurant as a whole
Compensation and Benefits Pay range: $100,000–$120,000 per year + bonus opportunity. Benefits include health/dental/vision insurance, paid time off plan, dining discounts, 401(k), and continuous development and learning opportunities.
