The Senior Director, Medical & Scientific Affairs – Neurodegenerative Disease is responsible for setting the vision and strategic direction for the disease area and leading daily business operations support related to product development, clinical research, product quality, compliance, commercial/marketing activities, and customer interactions. This senior role assists the Chief Medical Officer as the medical representative of Beckman to external partners and professional societies and will partner as a thought leader and Beckman Coulter representative with senior external customers, bringing our technology, patient focus, and commitment message to the market.
In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To
Steer collaborative efforts between business leaders and research teams to define clinical research priorities for product development, regulatory submissions, and marketing based on intended clinical applications and regulatory strategy.
Identify, coach, and develop a team of professionals, including a field associate director of MSLs and a global associate director.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders across matrix organizations, sharing information and fostering open risk/reward/resource discussions while developing talent within and outside the MedSci function.
Establish and cultivate strategic academic partners suited for future research and innovation; identify key opinion leaders and build a strategy for KOL management, translating insights from KOLs into actionable guidance for product development teams.
Strategically support the development and execution of pre‑launch product initiatives, commercialization, and life‑cycle management of all Neurodegenerative Disease‑related products through education, innovation, evidence generation, and research, including advisory boards, symposia, and continuing medical education.
Prepare and deliver training on new industry campaigns and clinical evidence, working with the marketing team on clinical input for campaigns, insights articles, and other outreach.
The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include
Doctorate level (M.D., Ph.D., Pharm.D, DNP) with a minimum of 20 years of medical & clinical affairs experience.
Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills to convey clinical and business issues to diverse audiences.
Strong leadership skills, fostering a dynamic environment of transparency, collaboration, and innovative thinking.
Strong problem‑solving and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and make recommendations at multiple company levels.
Minimum of 5 years of project‑management experience to establish strategic goals, prioritize, plan, delegate, and evaluate deliverables with a continuous‑improvement mindset.
Extensive clinical experience beyond neurodegenerative disease, including complementary areas.
Experience in clinical research roles in academia, healthcare, life sciences, or a medical‑technology business.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements
Ability to travel a minimum of 20‑25% of the time (domestic and international).
It Would Be a Plus If You Also Possess Previous Experience In
10+ years of product and domain knowledge of healthcare technologies and market trends.
8+ years’ experience working in medical technology, medical device, or pharmaceutical industry in Medical or Clinical Affairs roles.
MBA or Masters degree in a business‑related field.
Experience leading teams of high‑performing professionals with a track record of identifying, coaching, and elevating talent.

The annual salary range for this role is $220,000 – $260,000. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
