RECREATION COORDINATOR

COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
• Pay Range: $28.85 Hourly
• Full-time, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

ROLE IMPACT
The Recreation Coordinator develops, manages, and promotes innovative recreation and aquatics programs that enhance community wellness and engagement. This position ensures safe, compliant operations across aquatics facilities and recreation programs while fostering creativity, inclusion, and participation. Success in this role is defined by strong program growth, excellent public service, and adherence to safety and operational standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plan, implement, and evaluate recreation programs, events, and classes for all age groups.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise aquatics and recreation staff, including lifeguards and instructors.
• Coordinate aquatic operations—monitoring pool chemicals, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining CPO certification.
• Develop marketing materials, flyers, and social media content to promote programs and events.
• Track participation, revenue, and budget performance; prepare reports and program evaluations.
• Collaborate with other City departments and community partners to enhance programming.
• Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including health and safety standards.
• Support special events and recreation initiatives that align with community goals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Parks Management, Leisure Services, Physical Education, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in recreation programming, aquatics management, marketing, or event coordination.
• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications, or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
• Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License and acceptable driving record per City standards.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, and kneel for extended periods.
• Ability to perform administrative work while seated for extended periods.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Work performed in office, pool, and outdoor environments with exposure to varying weather conditions.
• Requires evening, weekend, and holiday hours for programs and events.
