Staff Accountant

Job Summary:

Responsible for maintaining and reconciling fixed assets, long-term debt, and payroll liability accounts. Essential Functions: Maintain fixed assets accounting and capital project documentation per GAAP Calculate depreciation expense and perform monthly reconciliations Review and approve fixed asset requisitions Prepare roll forward schedules and audit schedules Collaborate with Facilities, Technology, and Budget Directors on capital expenditure coding and forecasting Maintain long-term debt schedules including principal and interest payments Reconcile bank statements and bond-related accounts (deferred costs, bonds payable, premiums/discounts, trustee deposits) Post quarterly interest rate swap activity and interest income Prepare annual debt reports Reconcile payroll liability accounts and resolve discrepancies Prepare month-end accruals and analysis Alert management to issues or unusual fluctuations Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting required 1-3 years of accounting experience minimum Strong analytical skills and proficiency in accounting software and Excel Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently
