Job Description Job Summary Manages the Chaplaincy Service department and functions as a member of the LPCHS management team. Provides managerial oversight, spiritual counseling and guidance to patients and employees. Directs spiritual care services to the patients, family and staff. Ensures an effective and coordinated spiritual care/chaplaincy program. Evaluates and assesses the religious programs offered to determine effectiveness, use and future needs. Develops and maintains community relations for the purpose of securing religious and spiritual resources for hospital patients and their families.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Administers and oversees the Spiritual Care/ Chaplaincy Service Department with the overall mission of providing for spiritual needs for the entire hospital.

Develops and evaluates a world‑renowned ecumenical program.

Develops, evaluates, and revises services, policies, and procedures that guide and support the provision of services consistent with the hospital mission, goals and objectives, state law, and regulatory requirements.

Manages the Chaplaincy Service Volunteer program.

Ensures a training and service program accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. (ACPE), and assists in the supervisory process (if hospital has a CPE program).

Participates in the budget development and monitoring process, including having oversight of philanthropic funds.

Participates with other hospital managers in scheduled meetings, training, and special events.

Provides spiritual care to patients, family, and staff, particularly in response to referrals and for on‑call duty.

Screens admissions to assigned units and provides spiritual assessment and counseling of patients, families, hospital and medical staff upon request.

Supervises Chaplaincy Service staff and provides annual performance review.

Qualifications Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Minimum Qualifications Education: Graduation from college and an ATS accredited seminary or school of theology.

Experience: Ordination and a minimum of five (5) years experience.

License / Certification: Must have Professional Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) by the APC, ACPE, NACC, NAJC, or equivalent certifying body and be a member in good standing.

Knowledge

Ability to develop long‑range business plans and strategies.

Ability to energize team members.

Ability to form and maintain collaborative relationships with widely diverse groups, including area clergy, lay ministers, and ministerial associations, to ensure program exposure and development.

Ability to establish and maintain excellent client relationships, exhibit exemplary interpersonal skills and exercise sound judgment and professionalism in business and personnel matters.

Ability to lead and/or direct others on new projects, initiatives or work deliverables.

Ability to manage a function or multiple departments.

Ability to provide leadership and influence others.

Ability to solve problems and identify solutions.

Ability to speak and write effectively at a level appropriate for the job.

Additional Information Pay Range Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range. Minimum to Midpoint Range (Hourly): $53.98 to $71.57
