General Atomics is seeking to hire a Systems Administrator to join our team. This position will be responsible for administration, configuration, installation, provisioning, and monitoring of Linux systems in a hybrid cloud environment. Job duties include troubleshooting to ensure availability, capacity and performance of infrastructure systems. Perform assigned duties with general direction from team leads and/or managers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Deploy highly available, scalable and secure cloud infrastructure with a focus on Microsoft Azure
Implement infrastructure migration methodologies and techniques to migrate workloads into Microsoft Azure and AWS
Develop automation to support continuous delivery and continuous integration process
Basic understanding of Microsoft Azure and AWS technologies (both IaaS and PaaS) and options to support the migration process
Prioritize, manage and maintain Service Now ticket queues while maintaining SLAs
Ensure all documentation stays up to date including run books
Ensure required reporting is accurate and completed on time
Maintain 24/7 on‑call support as assigned (2wk shifts)
Perform other duties as instructed by team leads and/or managers
Be able to rapidly switch context as required by management and emerging incidents
Maintain vendor relationships and utilize their support when applicable
Utilize and improve highly available, scalable and secure hybrid cloud infrastructure (VMware, Azure and AWS)
Proactively maintain and develop all Linux infrastructure technology to maintain a 24x7x365 uptime service
Install and set up Linux systems and servers in a hybrid cloud environment
Migrate server systems between hybrid cloud platforms
Engineer systems administration‑related solutions for various project and operational needs
Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment
Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes
Perform routine system maintenance and resolve issues as they arise
Review error logs, dashboards, and reported errors and seek out solutions
Follow change control policies and procedures to ensure proper review, notification, and record of maintenance events
Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks while maintaining credential security
Monitor system performance to prevent slowdowns and crashes
Develop and deploy solutions so that the system remains usable for all personnel
Provide technical support and guidance to users and other administrators
Work closely with other personnel to answer technical questions or resolve issues with server‑side performance
Support users by assisting with installation and maintenance of Linux‑based programs and help diagnose problems with these applications so that they work with existing servers
Identify faults and vulnerable areas within the system’s architecture
Follow and maintain all compliance regulations
Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments
