Summary The Ash Group is hiring a
Senior
Design Engineer
for our client (a high‑tech aerospace and defense contractor delivering complex technology solutions for national security and space exploration). This is an Onsite 6‑month contract role based in Wichita, KS, offering a competitive pay rate of $80.00 per hour.
This role supports the high‑priority U.S. Jet Training System proposal by performing detailed design assessments, refining preliminary designs, and ensuring compliance with requirements for critical aircraft systems like airframe structures and landing gear.
Compensation:
Competitive pay rate of $80.00 per hour.
Benefits:
Medical, dental, vision, and direct primary care benefits. After six months of employment, enjoy a 4% matched 401(k) plan with immediate 100% vesting.
Duration:
6‑month contract (with potential for long‑term extension if the proposal is won).
What You’ll Be Doing
Review and refine Preliminary Design Review (PDR)-level aircraft designs for the UJTS program.
Conduct crucial
requirement assessments
and ensure design compliance, especially for structural integrity and landing gear.
Perform system and structural
trade studies
to optimize design elements (e.g., hydraulics, propulsion integration, weights and loads).
Contribute technical content to the high-priority proposal due in Feb–March and support major design and engineering reviews.
Utilize aerospace analysis tools (structures, loads, MATLAB) and potentially
CATIA V5
for design review purposes.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
(U.S. Citizenship required).
10+ years of relevant design experience
(Level III/Senior Engineer preferred).
Strong background in
Aerospace and Defense
design, with a focus on aircraft is a major plus.
Demonstrated expertise in one or more high-priority areas:
Airframe / Aerostructures design ,
Landing gear design ,
Hydraulics , or
Propulsion integration .
Ability to work independently and handle design assessments and engineering trade studies with minimal direction.
Familiarity with
aircraft requirements
standards and prior experience in design refinement for complex aviation platforms.
