About the Role We are currently hiring an Domestic Casualty Underwriter to work in our Boston office. Your relationship building and problem‑solving expertise will help us drive positive impact with our customers, communities, and each other. You will serve as a customer advocate with a focus on improving the customer experience by understanding their unique risks and offering the best end‑to‑end solution for their insurance needs.
We are looking for someone with excellent market facing and technical skills that has experience working with brokers in the Boston area. This position will be working with our National Accounts Casualty products, managing a renewal book while also being responsible for bringing in new business.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain relationships with broker partners and customers across all industries to support National Accounts Casualty business objectives.
Leverage your Casualty underwriting acumen in risk assessment, exposure evaluation, and pricing to generate and maintain a profitable book of new and renewal business.
Collaborate across business units—including claims, finance, risk engineering, actuarial, and technical underwriting—to gain extensive industry knowledge.
Employ market‑facing, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to grow and develop relationships with preferred distribution partners.
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1 or more years of experience in the Insurance or Market Facing area OR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Market Facing area, Accounting, Banking, or Risk Management, AND
Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment.
Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, and national/local filing regulations and guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree.
Expert technical knowledge of Casualty National Account Underwriting.
Established broker relationships (retail brokers) within the NY Metro area.
Sales execution mindset.
Creative problem‑solving skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Compensation & Benefits Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. The proposed salary range for this position is $67,600.00 – $110,700.00, with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%.
