Position Summary According to established procedures, cleans and services all areas of the facility. Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies in and around hospital departments, and performs a variety of environmental services duties to maintain the hospital in a neat, orderly, and sanitary condition. Responds to fire or disaster codes as instructed by supervisor or manager.
Essential Responsibilities / Duties
Selects cleaning materials and supplies and prepares chemicals according to procedure.
Loads maid's carts and transports to work area.
Cleans assigned areas by washing furniture, tile, fixtures, and equipment with germicidal cleaning solutions.
Cleans high‑touch areas such as door knobs, handrails, telephone, wall plates, light switches, etc.
Sweeps, mops, vacuums, and spot cleans carpets; arranges furniture and equipment after cleaning.
Requests cleaning supplies and equipment as needed.
Operates various types of cleaning equipment, both mechanical and electrical.
Notifies manager of equipment needing repair and reports safety hazards.
Cleans carts and equipment and ensures all items are returned orderly.
May climb ladder to hang cubicle drapes and window drapes.
Collects waste from all areas of responsibility.
Collects hazardous waste as established by policy.
Cleans isolation rooms during patient stay and after discharge.
Cleans operating suites using proper cleaning solutions per departmental procedures.
Arranges furniture for meetings.
May assist with delivery of laundry carts to patient areas.
Job Requirements
Ability to read, follow oral and written instructions in English.
Ability to learn and perform basic housekeeping practices and understand the policies and procedures of the hospital.
HS Diploma or GED preferred.
Compensation Range $17.03 – $25.30 per hour. Includes benefits: medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, Flexible Spending Accounts, 403(b) savings, earned time cash out, paid time off, career advancement, and wellness resources.
