SGH seeks a motivated and dynamic engineer to help grow our structural engineering practice in Southern California. The Structures Division works on a variety of exciting project types including seismic retrofit of existing buildings, repair and rehabilitation of existing buildings, investigation and performance evaluation, adaptive re-use of existing structures, new design, and many others. We work in all structural materials including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and composites and routinely utilize advanced analysis techniques and methodologies in our projects.
What You’ll Be Doing
Work on a wide range of structural engineering projects involving steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures.
Design new structures; assess, investigate, evaluate, and analyze existing structures; design seismic retrofits, modifications, and repairs of existing buildings.
Execute and manage development of structural construction documents and structural calculation packages.
Plan and conduct site investigations to document existing conditions.
Execute the construction administration phase of projects, including submittal review, response to requests for information, attend site meetings, prepare field reports, etc.
Work with the principal-in-charge, senior project manager, and junior staff to plan and execute projects.
Serve as a project manager on select projects, managing budgets, schedules, and staffing.
Preparation of technical reports.
Responsible for direct client and contractor contact within the context of assigned work.
Assist with training, mentoring, and managing junior staff.
Assist in proposal development and business development efforts.
Pursue professional activities to gain professional recognition.
What You’ll Need
Minimum of 9 years of experience in structural analysis and design of concrete, steel, masonry, and wood-frame structures.
MS in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Professional Engineering License in California.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment towards shared goals.
Proficient in writing and editing project specifications, technical reports, field reports, correspondence, and proposals.
Strong written and oral communication skills required.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage project budgets.
Proficient in the use of computer analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP, Perform3D, RISA, RAM, SAFE, etc.).
Familiarity with and experience in implementing various codes and guidelines including the California Building Code, ASCE 7, ASCE 41, etc.
Ability to travel to out-of-state projects on occasion and to remote job sites not accessible by public transportation.
Valid driver's license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.

Compensation The below range is a good faith estimate pursuant to applicable equal pay and pay transparency laws. The actual salary offered will be based on several factors including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and work location.
Base salary is part of SGH’s industry-leading Total Compensation package. Our Total Compensation package includes base salary, pay for extra hours worked, an annual discretionary bonus program, generous paid time off, and health and wellness benefits with a special emphasis on substantial SGH contributions to medical insurance premiums and SGH’s Profit Sharing & 401(k) Plan.
