RN - MedSurg Telemetry Day Shift
to work at a Facility in
Bethesda, MD . These are registry positions with our company.
Pay Rate : $51 per hour
Employment Type : W2
Shift Details : Focus on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday block schedule.
Qualifications
At least 2 years of experience as an RN - MedSurg Telemetry Day Shift in an acute care setting
Education: Accredited school of Nursing (Diploma, AD, or BSN)
Licensure: RN with a current, active, full, and unrestricted license from a U.S. state, DC, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) desirable; Basic dysrhythmia course with certificate required
Experience: One year full‑time experience within the last three years caring for adult patients in an acute care telemetry setting with cardiac monitoring
Job Description
Possess knowledge of telemetry system/ECG monitoring, place ECG electrodes, record telemetry data, and interpret EKG rhythms; communicate changes with physicians and interdisciplinary team
Obtain, analyze, and post rhythm strips on admission per unit protocol and order; interpret rhythm strips to include rate, rhythm, PR, QRS, QT, ectopic beats, ST segment changes; report abnormalities to provider
Identify life‑threatening dysrhythmias and take immediate action by alerting responsible provider and, if necessary, calling the emergency cardiac response team
Monitor continuous pulse oximetry, assess and record findings per order; notify provider of baseline changes, especially during RRT, Code Blue, or acute changes
Notify provider when monitoring parameters require changes for a patient; replace electrodes and battery as needed
Demonstrate knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology of the heart and conduction system
Ensure compliance with unit and hospital SOPs related to telemetry protocols
Make immediate judgement and decision calls for patients experiencing life‑threatening dysrhythmias and notify provider promptly
Analyze temporary pacemaker function for sensing, pacing, and capture failures; report discoveries to provider
Care for post‑cardiac‑surgery patients, including CABG, thoracotomy, and other procedures requiring chest tubes and drainage management
Administer intravenous cardiac/antiarrhythmic drugs and other approved telemetry medication therapy in accordance with policy and procedure
Participate in unit skills fairs, education, and training to ensure compliance with unit, hospital, and JC protocols
