Academic ASAP Program Manager (HEA) (Reopened) - 400568 The City University of New York (CUNY) is one of the nation’s largest publicly funded universities, serving a diverse student body across its 25 campuses. Kingsborough Community College, founded in 1963, offers liberal arts education and career training programs and has been named a leading community college by the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program. Approximately 70% of its students pursue liberal arts or science degrees, while the remainder enroll in specialized career-oriented programs such as business, communications, criminal justice, culinary arts, nursing, allied health, information technology, journalism, maritime technology, tourism, hospitality, and the visual arts. The college provides extensive support services—including individual counseling, skills workshops, and career planning—to enhance student success.

Founded in 2007, the CUNY Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) is a comprehensive associate‑degree completion initiative that serves 25,000 students annually at nine CUNY colleges, including Kingsborough. ASAP delivers personalized supports to remove barriers to full‑time study, accelerate academic momentum, and build a connected community. The program has received national recognition, including the 2020 Innovations in American Government Award from the Harvard Kennedy School's Ash Center.

Responsibilities

Develop, execute, and evaluate a comprehensive recruitment strategy in partnership with the ASAP Director to reach enrollment targets.

Supervise full‑time recruitment and engagement staff; serve as hiring and training manager of Student Ambassadors.

Develop, manage, and update communication processes using CRM systems (currently Connect) to track applicant status, enrollment progress, residency, and financial aid eligibility.

Collaborate with the ASAP Director, associate directors, and campus partners to design and implement high‑impact early engagement and co‑curricular programs that support persistence and retention.

Manage new students through the enrollment process, including advising appointments, monitoring enrollment, and coordinating Summer/Winter Institute activities.

Cultivate relationships with CUNY pre‑matriculation programs and build partnerships with high schools, HSE programs, and college advisors to strengthen recruiting pipelines.

Accurately and timely manage prospective student enrollment coding in CUNYFirst in collaboration with the Director and Advisement Associate Directors.

Lead Special Programs joint recruitment efforts with College Discovery and KCC FLEX, and oversee the program’s social media presence and communication efforts.

Foster collaborative relationships with the college’s Enrollment Management and Marketing units to integrate ASAP into comprehensive campus marketing and recruiting strategies.

Represent ASAP at external college access events and related conferences; serve as a primary point of contact for external engagement initiatives.

Some evening and weekend hours may be required.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in an appropriate discipline and six years related experience.

One year of direct recruitment experience is highly recommended.

Preferred Candidate

Strong understanding of the needs and challenges facing students from diverse urban backgrounds.

Experience recruiting students in higher education settings, pre‑enrollment advising, early engagement strategies, and the financial aid process.

Experience managing a multi‑faceted, fast‑paced, time‑sensitive operation serving both internal and external constituents.

Strong organizational, project management, written and verbal communication, and facilitation skills.

Excellent data and computer skills—particularly Microsoft Office Suite—and aptitude to learn new systems; Connect and CUNYFirst experience preferred.

Strong ability to communicate program requirements effectively to students.

Commitment to fostering supportive, inclusive learning environments.

Detail‑oriented with strong analytical, evaluation, research, writing, and editing skills.

Demonstrated ability to cultivate inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and community members.

Experience developing and implementing engagement activities supporting academic and personal development.

Familiarity with social media tools and analytics.

Compensation and Benefits $94,909 – $105,816
