Job Summary The Supervisor, Warehousing and Logistics ensures that safety and service levels are effective and efficient for assigned warehouse(s), inbound/outbound operations, property disposition and quality control and/or functional processes on a specified shift(s), within the Office of Supply Chain Warehousing and Logistics (SCWL). This individual leads, mentors, trains, coaches and develops a team of Supply Chain Specialists and Associates while maintaining the highest levels of productivity, safety and quality.

Essential Functions

Provides overall direction, coordination, and monitoring of assigned warehouse(s), inbound/outbound operations, property disposal, quality control or functional processes on a specified shift(s), within Supply Chain Warehousing and Logistics (SCWL) including: the development of standard operating procedures; the identification and enforcement of safety regulations within the warehouse(s) and the implementation of programs to ensure the safety and optimal performance of the workforce.

Interprets big data and delivers meaningful results that keenly drive productivity and efficiency to improve performance and/or meet performance metrics within SCWL.

Builds and delivers productivity plans by reviewing work forecasts, determining productivity requirements, and partnering with other supervisors to balance labor.

Monitors warehouse operations and functional processes to ensure that policies, standard operating procedures, risk management and internal controls are followed.

Investigates customer complaints or service issues, performs root cause analyses and provides resolutions. Implements corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.

Leads and inspires workforce and provides the necessary tools and resources to drive productivity and efficiency through data-driven decisions and analytical problem-solving amongst team members. Strives to continuously improve the efficiency of WMATA’s Supply Chain and instill a culture of customer fixation, aiming for excellent customer service, a high standard of operations quality & safety and an atmosphere of best practice sharing among the team and with peers.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in all facets of supply chain management, including at least one (1) year of supervisory management and two (2) years in warehousing and logistics environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or related field

Medical Requirement Satisfactorily complete the medical examination for this position, if required. The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of this position either with or without reasonable accommodations.
