Senior Vice President, Cyber Policy & Controls Join BNY as a Senior Vice President, Cyber Policy & Controls in our Cyber Control and Compliance Office team. The role is based in New York City, NY.

Key Responsibilities In this role you will make an impact through:

Cyber Policy Modernization & Controls

Lead the end‑to‑end execution of the Cyber Policy Modernization project, including policy catalogue refresh and control statement standardization.

Establish and chair the Cybersecurity Policy Steering Committee for governance, oversight, and decision‑making.

Collaborate with process owners, subject‑matter experts and engineering controls teams to identify gaps and implement AI‑driven tools for gap analysis.

Oversee the development and mapping of control objectives, statements and risk statements for clarity and traceability.

Drive integration of continuous control monitoring, metrics and reporting into the policy lifecycle.

Ensure successful transition from project phase to business‑as‑usual (BAU), embedding scalable assurance mechanisms.

BAU (Business‑as‑Usual) Controls Leadership

Own and continuously improve the cyber controls framework, maintaining alignment with evolving regulatory and threat‑driven requirements.

Lead the ongoing governance, refresh and publication of cybersecurity policies and standards.

Maintain and enhance the Controls Inventory Master and ensure integration with the Controls Hub and enterprise controls taxonomy.

Monitor control effectiveness, drive remediation of control gaps and optimize resource allocation for operational resilience.

Oversee implementation of measurable, business‑focused metrics and dashboards for real‑time risk and control management.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement, stakeholder engagement and cross‑functional alignment.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

Serve as the primary liaison between cybersecurity, engineering controls, enterprise controls and business stakeholders.

Advocate for policy outcomes, monitor implementation and ensure transparency through regular reporting.

Coordinate with audit, regulatory and risk management teams to ensure a defensible, scalable and compliant security posture.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

10‑12 years of total work experience (preferred).

Proven experience in cybersecurity policy management, controls modernization and regulatory alignment (e.g., CRI, NIST, ISO).

Demonstrated leadership in cross‑functional project delivery and BAU operations within a complex enterprise environment.

Strong understanding of engineering controls, enterprise controls taxonomy and control inventory management.

Experience with AI‑driven tools for control gap analysis and policy modernization is a plus.

Excellent communication, stakeholder management and governance skills.

Benefits & Rewards BNY offers highly competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid leave, volunteer time and wellness programs. Base salary for this position is expected to be between $102,000 and $221,000 per year, depending on experience and market location.
