ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee Consumer Lending Underwriting (Direct, Indirect and Merchant Lending).
Leadership, Personal/Organizational Development
Monitor daily activity within Consumer Lending (direct, indirect, merchant, and student lending). Address policy questions and maintain loan exception authority. Current portfolio includes significant direct and indirect loans and credit cards.
Ensure direct consumer loans are underwritten promptly and in accordance with guidelines; document exceptions within established authority.
Ensure underwriting channels are integrated and performing to exceed member and dealer expectations.
Monitor market conditions to keep pricing fair and competitive.
Develop relationships with auto, marine, motorcycle, and RV dealers to achieve forecasted origination and revenue goals; manage dealer contact across varied hours.
Demonstrate mastery of Consumer Loan Underwriting and underwrite/process employee and credit union official loan applications.
Underwrite and determine credit worthiness (Approve, Decline, Counter Offer) within authority.
Maintain awareness of security standards, mortgage regulations, and applicable title laws; stay current on Arkansas and out-of-state title registration.
Analyze and maintain underwriting policies, procedures, and processes for compliance and efficiency.
Recommend and develop policy changes; ensure up-to-date Credit Scoring system reflects risk/reward.
Address issues with members, dealers, and third parties as they arise; communicate regarding loans or collateral.
Advise SVP-Consumer Lending and EVP-Chief Lending Officer on unusual complaints or inquiries.
Administration, Community Involvement
Monitor, interpret and communicate Lending Regulations relevant to Direct Consumer Loans.
Educate lending staff on new opportunities, service philosophies, and workflow enhancements.
Participate in Lending Lunch and Learn and continued staff training.
Prepare and analyze weekly/monthly loan workflow reports and daily audit reviews.
Foster positive relationships among service center lending staff, Member Development, and underwriters/officers.
Serve on the Loan Review Committee as assigned.
Oversee maintenance of data processing systems for Direct Lending ( MeridianLink, DealerTrack, RouteOne, CUDL, Glia, Lending Express); implement changes timely.
Assist in Annual Plan/Budget preparation; lead staff meetings to streamline workflows.
Coordinate training for staff; assign and review work; coach on auditing findings and policy changes.
Ensure accurate timekeeping, PTO, and holiday hours; maintain a positive, productive work environment.
Performance Management
Ensure annual evaluations for Direct Lending staff; recommend promotions/salary adjustments to SVP-Consumer Lending.
Maintain current knowledge of compliance and industry trends; participate in community activities and organizational projects as assigned.
Provide information to Supervisory Committee, CPAs, and federal examiners as needed for lending procedures.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Broad knowledge in accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. Equivalent to a four-year college degree, plus 7 years related experience and/or training, and 5 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
