Minimum qualifications

Preferred qualifications
Experience developing and managing platform-based solutions.
Experience working with recommender systems or machine learning.
Experience navigating ambiguous projects, utilizing an iterative and experimental approach to define optimal solutions.
Experience collaborating with infrastructure teams.
Ability to lead technical projects.

The team's goal is to provide people with a safe, entertaining, and informative feed of videos that they can find value in. The team works to inspire people to create shorts through feed recommendations, making it easy to go from watching to creating.
In this role, you will focus on improving the algorithms that shape the shorts feed for viewers. You will contribute to the infrastructure that enables new and casual users to discover Shorts for the first time. You will help the team build the foundational systems to gain a better understanding of viewer interests through active exploration, and you will help to build the infrastructure that fosters connections between viewers and creators by encouraging engagement with videos.

The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $183,000‑$271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
Support the infrastructure team in balancing short‑term requirements with long‑term platform strategy, designing solutions for reuse while addressing immediate use cases.
Navigate ambiguous projects by defining and executing iterative experiments to determine the optimal direction.
Cultivate a platform mindset, addressing immediate needs while strategically planning for long‑term scalability and reusability.
Develop and contribute to Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) and strategic documents, ensuring alignment with user needs and Google's objectives, policies, and roadmaps.
Drive product development from conception to impact, taking full ownership of outcomes. Address and resolve issues promptly regarding product design, cross‑functional collaboration, and processes.
