Overview We’re recruiting for an
experienced insurance internal audit leader
to manage a team of professionals, oversee audit projects, and ensure compliance with U.S. insurance regulations and internal controls. The role includes driving risk‑based audit plans, conducting audits, developing programs and corrective actions, and presenting recommendations for process improvements. Ideal candidates have 10+ years of relevant experience (Big 4 or financial services preferred), strong knowledge of insurance operations and regulatory requirements, excellent communication and analytical skills, and professional certifications such as CIA, CPA, CPCU, or CLU. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
Responsibilities
Lead the insurance internal audit practice and manage a team of 4 professionals.
Oversee audit projects, ensuring compliance with U.S. insurance regulations and internal controls.
Drive the risk‑based audit plan, including risk assessments and execution.
Conduct audits, test controls, and support consulting or ad‑hoc analyses.
Develop audit programs, process documentation, and corrective action plans.
Prepare and present audit reports with recommendations for process improvements.
Maintain knowledge of insurance regulations, accounting standards, and audit best practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year university.
10+ years of working experience (experience at a Big 4 accounting or financial services firm is a strong plus).
Knowledgeable in insurance processes/risk (underwriting, claims, reserving, reinsurance, actuarial, investment management, etc.).
Relevant experience with insurance regulatory compliance and reporting requirements.
Motivated self‑starter who works well individually and in teams; superior written and verbal communication skills; able to provide professional skepticism with an inquisitive frame of mind.
Professional certifications are a merit (e.g., CIA, CPA, CPCU, CLU, or other insurance designations).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
