About eBay Live eBay Live is redefining how people shop, blending entertainment, community, and real‑time selling into a dynamic livestream experience. It’s a startup‑style innovation engine inside one of the world’s largest marketplaces, powered by four interconnected engines: supply, demand, product, and operations.

Role Overview The Head of Business Development will lead teams responsible for sourcing, recruiting, vetting and activating the right sellers across categories and geographies. This role ensures eBay Live has the content density, quality, and category coverage needed to drive GMV and buyer engagement. You will own the BD motion, including strategy, pipeline development, funnel management, cross‑functional alignment and team leadership for eBay Live.

Key Responsibilities Seller Acquisition Strategy & Pipeline Leadership

Define and execute the global strategy to source and recruit high‑potential sellers across priority categories and markets.

Build and manage a multi‑channel pipeline (enterprise outreach, SMB pros, communities, trade shows, referrals, digital signals).

Ensure alignment with category priorities to close supply gaps and support category expansion.

Seller Qualification, Vetting & Category Fit

Own the seller vetting framework, evaluating identity, intent, inventory, live‑commerce capability, reputation, and trust signals.

Partner with Category Managers to ensure each recruited seller meets the needs of the category’s demand, content density and growth objectives.

Define clear readiness criteria for handoff to Onboarding & Activation.

Funnel Performance, Process Design & Cross‑Functional Execution

Manage BD funnel performance across all stages: lead ⟶ vetted ⟶ contracted ⟶ onboarded ⟶ activated.

Build the operating model and handoff processes with Onboarding & Activation and Account Management to maximise seller success and reduce leakage.

Work with Legal and Operations to streamline contracting and reduce friction.

Partner with Product to share seller insights and influence tooling improvements.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

Lead, coach and scale a team of BD Managers.

Establish a “hunter” culture rooted in ownership, quality sourcing, data‑driven prioritisation and performance accountability.

Build training, playbooks and an incentive structure that supports high‑velocity, high‑quality seller acquisition.

Help shape hiring plans and support the expansion of eBay Live into new markets and categories.

Qualifications Required

5+ years in Business Development, Sales, Partnerships or Marketplace Growth.

Experience sourcing and acquiring high‑value partners or sellers at scale.

Strong analytical and funnel‑optimisation skills.

Demonstrated ability to drive results in fast‑moving, ambiguous environments.

Strong cross‑functional leadership across Product, Legal, Ops and Category teams.

Proven people management experience.

Nice to Have

Experience in enthusiast categories (collectibles, trading cards, fashion, electronics, etc.).

Experience with “hunter” sales motions and incentive‑based teams.

Experience with global or distributed teams.

Prior exposure to livestream commerce, creator ecosystems or digital marketplaces.

Compensation Base pay range: $132,000 - $212,000. Base pay may vary depending on factors such as location, skills and experience. The total compensation may also include a target bonus and restricted stock units, as applicable, along with a full range of medical, financial and other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits such as PTO and parental leave). Details of benefit plans will be provided upon offer.
