Summary The Medical Director for Women’s Health is located within the Primary Care service and reports directly to the Chief of Primary Care. This position represents the James H. Quillen VAMC (JHQVAMC) on aspects of Women’s Health and involves providing clinical care for women Veterans, leading program development, and ensuring compliance with quality measures.
Qualifications
United States Citizenship, or if non‑citizen, when no qualified citizen can be recruited.
Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from a VA‑approved school.
Full and unrestricted medical or surgical license in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
Completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs and approved by an accredited core specialty program (ACGME, AOA, or equivalent).
Board certification or eligibility for board certification in the specialty.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Preferred:
Experience in Family Practice or Internal Medicine, VA experience, and a focus in Women’s Health.

Duties
Provide clinical care to women Veterans.
Administrative responsibilities of the Women’s Health program.
Maintain exceptional clinical skills in Women’s Health.
Develop, coordinate, evaluate, and recommend program guidelines and policies.
Collaborate with central office and VISN staff on Women’s Health initiatives.
Serve as a liaison between Women’s Health and other departments to build partnerships for Comprehensive Care Centers for Women.
Support ongoing development of the Women’s Health program using communication skills and resources.
Provide expertise in leadership and management of Women’s Health clinical areas.
Work with all clinical disciplines and administrative staff to deliver high‑quality, continuous Women’s Health outpatient care.
Ensure effective delivery of Women’s Health care and meet compliance standards.
Work closely with the Women Veterans Program Manager (WVPM) and serve on the facility Women Veterans Healthcare Committee.
Act as a clinical leader and provide expertise as a primary care provider in Women’s Health.
Prece p ort and mentor residents, NP‑PA students, and medical students.
Promote best practices and participate in outreach and educational seminars on Women’s Health.
Implement quality improvement initiatives and track performance measures such as cervical cancer screening, breast cancer screening, diabetic measures, ischemic heart disease measures, influenza and pneumococcal vaccine measures.
Evaluate electronic health record data for accuracy and provide feedback to clinicians.
Participate in Primary Care Leadership meetings and engage in PACT implementation teams.
Perform other duties as assigned by the VA.
Compensation and Benefits
Competitive salary: $200,000–$275,000/yr.
Annual performance bonus.
50–55 days of paid time off per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 federal holidays, plus optional 5 days CME).
