Base Pay Range $260,000.00/yr - $290,000.00/yr

Johnson VA Medical Center is located in Clarksburg, West Virginia and serves a veteran population of approximately 70‑000 in north-central West Virginia and adjacent counties in Maryland, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. The Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center provides primary care and basic mental health services at four CBOCs.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine
The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed
Current – full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States – or in the District of Columbia
Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
Approved residencies include (1) those approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), (2) those approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or (3) other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States) deemed appropriate by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee
Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency training programs who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs)
PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e., not a training license) and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis
PRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged
PRPs are to have a "scope of practice" that allows them to perform certain restricted duties under supervision
Additionally, surgery residents in gap years may also be appointed as PRPs
Proficiency in spoken and written English

Duties
This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until May 22, 2026
The initial cut‑off date for referral of eligible applications will be December 15, 2025 with subsequent cut‑off date every two weeks
Provide medical services to Veterans (mostly male) on an outpatient basis in the primary care setting
Disease processes include – but are not limited to: diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, mental health disorders – etc., with a major focus on preventive medicine
Lead the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) approach in the delivery of care – which emphasizes a team based approach to healthcare
Document all medical information in an electronic medical record
Perform medication reconciliation
Provide effective delivery of outpatient care while meeting and exceeding compliance standards
Maintain current clinical privileges – licensure – Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Basic Life Support (BLS) – and all other requirements as appropriate
Cooperate with – and participate in – medical duties or functions related to quality of care and peer review along with improvement/performance improvement activities at the direction of the Chief of the Medical Service
All other duties assigned
