We are looking for a Naval Combat Systems Engineer to support advanced training and engineering initiatives for the U.S. Navy specializing in Aegis Ballistics Missile Defense Systems.
Responsibilities
Perform technical planning, system integration, verification & validation, supportability, and effectiveness analyses for total training systems, focusing on ballistic missile defense scenarios.
Convert customer or product requirements (including MDA requirements for threat models and operational protocols) into total training system solutions while considering technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Conduct functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirement gathering, requirement allocation, and interface definition studies to translate requirements into software specifications.
Apply extensive technical expertise and maintain knowledge of related disciplines.
Communicate effectively and present technical approaches and findings, including SYSML models and simulation results, to stakeholders.
Develop innovative solutions to simulate ballistic missile threats and countermeasures, using ingenuity and creativity.
Participate in Interface Working Groups and Interface Control Working Groups.
Document system architecture using SYSML to ensure it meets ballistic missile defense training needs.
Qualifications
Active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
Pre‑employment background investigation and drug screening required.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2+ years relevant experience, or a Master’s degree (no experience required), or High School Diploma with 6+ years relevant experience.
Demonstrated experience with shipboard combat systems, Aegis weapon systems, or BMD mission operations.
Strong background in testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of complex electronic/network systems.
U.S. citizenship.
Preferred: Experience with DoD customers, ballistic missile defense projects, and related processes.
Preferred: Knowledge of AEGIS, ballistic missile defense concepts, and requirement gathering for training systems.
Preferred: DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, GSEC, SSCP or higher).
Physical Requirements Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders, tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
