Position Purpose The Product Owner – Core Banking & Ancillary Systems is responsible for serving as the primary business owner of the Bank’s core banking system and all related ancillary products, including online banking, treasury management, loan origination, and payment platforms. Acting as the essential link between business stakeholders, technology teams, and vendors, this role ensures the continuous evolution of the Bank’s systems to meet both business objectives and regulatory requirements, and to fulfill customer expectations. This position leads the definition of system enhancements, prioritizes product features, manages the product backlog, and oversees the successful delivery of solutions designed to advance efficiency, compliance, and customer service excellence.

Position Responsibilities

Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) and business owner for the Bank’s core banking system and ancillary applications.

Define and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap in alignment with overall business objectives.

Continuously evaluate industry trends, regulatory changes, and customer needs to identify opportunities for product improvement and innovation.

Gather, analyze, and document business requirements from stakeholders throughout the Bank.

Develop, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog, balancing requirements for functionality, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Write clear user stories and acceptance criteria to facilitate development, testing, and effective vendor delivery.

Collaborate with IT, vendors, and business users to ensure the timely and high‑quality release of new features and enhancements.

Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) to confirm that product changes satisfy requirements and support operational needs.

Oversee system configuration and parameter adjustments, ensuring that documentation remains current and accurate.

Act as the liaison between line‑of‑business leaders, operations teams, compliance, and technology groups.

Facilitate product demonstrations, roadmap reviews, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.

Train and support end users on new features, workflows, and system capabilities.

Ensure that product changes comply with all regulatory and audit requirements.

Monitor system performance, address issues, and oversee vendor service level agreements (SLAs).

Work closely with risk and compliance teams to guarantee secure and compliant system usage.

Education and Experience Required

Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, information systems, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years in banking operations, technology, or product management.

Familiarity with core banking systems such as FIS, Fiserv, Jack Henry, Temenos, or Finastra and ancillary products including treasury, loan origination, and digital banking.

High aptitude for problem solving.

Ability to connect business challenges to technical solutions.

Proven strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills with extreme attention to detail.

Experience with dashboard reporting applications.

Experience creating and leading presentations to internal stakeholders.

Advanced Excel skills.

Preferred Education and Experience

Prior roles as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Systems Manager within a financial institution.

Strong understanding of commercial banking products and operations.

Proven ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.

Familiarity with Agile methodology and tools (e.g., Jira or Azure DevOps) is an asset.

Ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Ability to solve or escalate issues with sound judgment.

Ability to work in cross‑functional teams and build strong relationships.

Compensation

Base Salary Range: $115,000 – $160,000 annually. Final determination depends on experience, skills, education, geographic location, and job‑specific qualifications.

Additional Compensation: A yearly target bonus based on individual performance.
