About the role We are seeking a
Project Controls Engineer / Office Engineer
to support a range of construction and development projects. This role is ideal for someone who excels in organizing project data, managing documentation, tracking financials, and supporting project teams through accurate and timely reporting. You will work closely with project managers and field engineers to maintain project records, support cost-control efforts, and assist with day-to-day administrative and technical project functions. This position plays a key role in ensuring projects remain on schedule, within budget, and aligned with established procedures.
What you'll do
Maintain familiarity with all project procedures, manuals, and documentation relevant to assigned work
Update and manage project data in digital project-management systems, including uploading supporting documents and ensuring information remains current
Generate and analyze bi-weekly labor reports, collaborating with project managers to identify discrepancies or unauthorized charges
Prepare monthly expenditure reports and compile financial summaries for project and program tracking
Coordinate with project teams and accounting staff to support invoice submissions, payment tracking, and timely cost forecasting
Assist construction engineers in developing cost estimates and financial projections to support budgeting and cost control
Serve as a financial and administrative resource for project teams, providing accurate data to support decision-making
Submit daily logs and updates through required project platforms
Perform additional project-related duties as assigned by project leadership
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
Minimum of
5 years of experience
in project controls, preferably with a focus on cost management
Demonstrated ability to support multiple active projects in a fast-paced engineering or construction environment
Strong communication abilities, including technical writing and clear documentation practices
Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Oracle PeopleSoft, and Procore required
Experience working within large transportation, transit, or public-infrastructure environments is highly beneficial
Prior experience supporting projects for major transit agencies such as WMATA, or familiarity with their procedures and systems is a strong plus
