Job Description Senior Structural Engineers – Transit Facilities / Buildings – Virtual based in US West Region.

Opportunity Parsons has supported all elements of mass transit, including mainline railways, commuter rail and light rail transit. Our design teams have worked on every major transit system in North America and many renowned systems overseas. We are hiring two experienced Structural Engineers to join our team in Denver, Colorado, working on projects that transform the region into a more pedestrian and bike-friendly environment supported by public transit.

In this role, you will plan and design facilities and buildings used in rail/transit as well as related structures such as pedestrian bridges, walkways, overpasses, underground structures, and other assets associated with mass transit. You will analyze projects to ensure structural reliability, resource efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Deliverables include specifications, engineering computations, material quantity take‑offs, estimates, surveys and designs from planning stages through construction, covering active projects such as the Honolulu Area Rapid Transit (HART) and Edmonton Light Rail in Canada. For an experienced candidate, this role may be virtually based anywhere in the US Western Region – Pacific, Mountain, and possibly Central Time Zones.

Responsibilities

Independently develop engineering products that meet customer quality requirements, including defining the problem, establishing the scope, preparing budgets and schedules, planning work, providing technical direction, and reporting status.

Provide detailed structural design and analysis to support active rail projects in the USA and Canada.

Produce detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses.

Supervise one or more subordinates and provide input regarding performance (for more senior engineers).

Be assigned to a project or organizational team, or serve as a lead engineer for a discipline on a small to intermediate‑sized project.

Provide input and technical guidance to BIM designers/drafters, designers, and junior engineers working on the same project.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related field).

8 years or more of related work experience is required; a Master’s degree is desirable but not required.

Professional Engineer (PE) license is desirable, or the ability to obtain a PE license within one year.

Proficiency in utilizing BIM/Revit and associated engineering software is required.

Proficiency with office software such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Bluebeam is desirable.

Experience in the analysis, design and detailing of concrete and steel buildings for gravity and lateral loads is required.

Working knowledge of concrete masonry unit and light gauge metal construction is preferred.

Experience with transit facilities design is a plus, but not required.

Salary Range $86,700.00 – $151,700.00.
