Operations Systems Engineer – San Diego County Credit Union

Pay Range Base pay: $49.75/hr – $64.25/hr (2nd shift eligible for a 10% differential)
Position Summary The NOC Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, configuring and supporting the technical infrastructure and operations of the credit union. Duties include system and application administration, vulnerability remediation, patching, and monitoring to deliver stable, highly available systems and exceptional service.
Minimum Qualifications
3 years of experience supporting Windows server, VMWare, patching and enterprise monitoring
Advanced experience with Microsoft technologies
Advanced experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware)
3 years of experience in a heterogeneous network environment
Ability to work independently to accomplish assigned tasks
Proven organizational and multi‑tasking skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Experience with Linux‑based systems and appliances
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience
Desired Qualifications
Certifications such as MCSE, MCSA, VCP, CCNA, ITILv3
Experience in PowerShell
Working knowledge of modern telecommunications systems
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform system maintenance and basic troubleshooting for Windows and Linux servers
Build and configure base images and provision servers in a VMWare environment
Schedule, perform, and validate regular patching of Windows, Linux, and VMWare servers
Configure Windows network services such as DNS, FTP, IIS, and SNMP
Install and update SSL certificates, TLS, and cipher codes
Analyze, troubleshoot and resolve system and network hardware, software, and application issues
Update BIOS, firmware, and drivers on hardware systems
Schedule, monitor and perform server backups and administer backup systems
Maintain and troubleshoot network and security devices (firewalls, IPS/IDS, MDM, vulnerability scanners, NAC, WAF)
Administer LAN/WAN and maintain network documentation
Troubleshoot connectivity issues (VPN, FTP, internet, websites, carrier circuits)
Assist with cyber‑attack resolution
Provide tier 3 technical support for all departments and branch offices
Assist in administration of storage arrays
Manage systems via server automation software
Add, modify, and remove monitors in enterprise monitoring tools
Remediate and resolve server security vulnerabilities
Support IT related projects
Manage IP address assignments and DNS entries
Monitor overnight processes
Administer Active Directory and monitor usage
Update, patch, and administer applications
Create and maintain application distribution packages using Group Policy or other methods
Assist in vendor selection and software/equipment purchasing
Maintain and administer software licensing
Participate in disaster recovery testing and execution
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Perform special projects as assigned
Provide after‑hours support within SLAs
Occasional travel
Participate in AML/BSA compliance training and follow applicable policies and procedures
Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands of this position include frequent use of hands, standing, and reaching with arms. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Vision required: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth, focus. Noise level is usually moderate.
