Tax Manager / Senior Tax Manager Are you stuck in a going‑nowhere job at your current CPA firm with no opportunity for advancement? This role is for you! Our client, a medium‑sized CPA firm located just south of Boston, seeks a Tax Manager/Senior Tax Manager to join their growing team.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibility is to coordinate the activities of the tax department and render quality tax services to clients.

Review and manage staff deliverables including tax returns, extensions, tax planning calculations, and write‑up work for all entity types (C‑Corp, S‑Corp, Partnership, Non‑Profit, gift, multi‑state).

Prepare and review complex tax planning projections for individual and corporate clients.

Manage and monitor client deliverables and due dates.

Review complex U.S. and multi‑state income tax returns for business entities, including consolidated and non‑consolidated C‑corporations, S‑corporations, Partnerships, Fiduciary, and Non‑Profit Organizations.

Review complex U.S. and state individual income, gift tax, and estate tax returns.

Conduct and review complex tax research and prepare memorandum outlining findings and conclusions. Respond to IRS and state agency audits, inquiries, and tax notices. Handles federal, state and local tax audits.

Delegate projects to staff that can handle them most efficiently and provide accounting and tax assistance to staff as needed.

Communicate directly with existing clients, colleagues, management, and IRS representatives regarding various tax matters.

Assist with business development efforts, including but not limited to, meeting with prospective clients, preparing fee quotes and proposals, and evaluating clients’ needs.

Lead department in knowledge of software, processes, and workflows.

Responsible for employee training for new hires and ongoing evaluation of tax staff.

Engage in consulting and special projects as requested by management and clients.

Takes direction and reports to senior management of the firm of the tax department.

Qualifications

5‑15 plus years of current tax experience within a public accounting firm with demonstrated supervisory experience.

BA/BS degree from an accredited college/university and licensed CPA/EA preferred.

Master’s degree in taxation preferred.

Tax audit experience.

Foreign tax experience preferred.

Ability to meet challenging client requirements and provide exceptional service as well.

Strong computer skills: proficiency preferred in ProSystem and BNA.

Detail oriented with ability to multi‑task.

Well rounded in dealing with high net worth individuals and business.

Salary range:

$125–250K + bonus.
