Lead Systems Engineer – Maritime PNT
Raytheon Company, Managed by Collins Aerospace, is hiring a Lead Systems Engineer for its Maritime PNT organization in San Diego, CA. The role focuses on the Global Positioning System (GPS)-Based Positioning, Navigation and Timing Service (GPNTS) program and its GHOST variant for the U.S. Navy.
Location San Diego, CA, USA.
Security Clearance DoD Clearance: Secret. U.S. citizenship required for clearance.
Employment Type Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite.
What You Will Do:
Serve as the primary technology and systems engineering focal point driving Systems Engineering practices across multiple teams
Communicate to the MASC Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL), Chief Engineer (CE), and Program leadership to provide team status, accomplishments, issues, and help needed
Develop system and subsystem requirements for complex systems by collaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to obtain necessary information for design, integration, and troubleshooting, leading to a successful Systems Requirements Review (SRR)
Lead technical discussions and formulate plans of action by leveraging company SMEs across engineering disciplines
Prepare presentations and brief customers during program design reviews and other meetings
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations
Experience with the entire systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements definition, analysis, decomposition, systems integration, verification, and validation
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued secret clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Master’s degree or PhD in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics
Ability to work independently and work with SMEs, CEs, and other program stakeholders to make informed technical decisions
Active and transferable U.S. government-issued SECRET security clearance
Experience evaluating and mitigating technical risks
Experience with reviewing and supporting trade studies, down-selects, and other related analyses
Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS)
Proficiency with systems modeling tools (e.g., SysML, MATLAB)
Prior work experience giving technical briefs or presentations
Agile experience as a Scrum Master, Product Owner, or other Agile leadership roles, and familiarity with Atlassian tool suite (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
Competence in peer review processes and configuration/change management
Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities while working on rapid development programs or in fast-paced environments
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Familiarity with military systems; tactics, techniques, and procedures
Familiarity with DoD customer infrastructure and Systems Engineering Product Development Cycle; preference for US Navy requirements
